Oct 20 - Ironwood results

The NCTGL played its final round of the "official" 2018 season in Hinckley today at Ironwood.  The weather was definitely cool above the ridge, but those holes down in the valley weren't too bad.  The biggest issue most of us had to deal with were the quick hard greens; if you were above the hole especially they were very fast, but from down below. . .well, that was another matter entirely.

We had 13 players today and, while some of us struggled, Messers Van Curen and Vales managed to card 8 of the 13 birdies (4 each) registered today.  I happened to play with Mark VC and I think he rolled in over 80 - 100 feet of putts!  Speaking of Mark VC, he, Randy Wells, and Brian Komar all carded rounds in the 70's led by Mark's 73, Randy 74, and Brian with a 77.  Nice rounds guys!

Next week will start our "unofficial" season.  For those interested in continuing to play until the weather turns we have three weeks worth of "planned" outings.  Bob Peoppelman is working on securing tee times for Oct 27th; while Mark has tee times scheduled for Nov 3rd and 10th at Seneca and Pine Hills respecitvely.  Continue to use the sign up process on the web site as a means of advising your intentions.

Today's Results:

Club Championship:

We also recognized the Club Championship winners today following our round.  For some of our newer members, the club champion is calculated by the total net scores of the best 8 of 20 CC rounds played during the season.

Congratulations to the 2018 CC Champion, Jim Chorba with his winning score of -26!  In the second and third place positions were Matt Vales at -21 and Mark Reinkober at -19.  For those of you wondering how you faired in the CC, go to the events tab above and locate the CC final standings.  A special note of thanks to Mitch Stull for keeping track of the CC this year!

This was/is Jim's first Club Championship since before 2000 he said. . .congratulations Jim!  You are as steady as they come, both on the tee and around the greens. . .well deserved!

Next week:

As I noted above, we have plans to play for the next few weeks as long as the weather cooperates.  Bob Poeppelman is working to secure tee times for Oct 27th and we will note same on the web site once established.
